How Men Should Dress For A Night Out
A night out is an occasion to hang out with friends, meet new people, bust a few moves on the dance floor and maybe even flirt a little with someone you fancy. However, whether or not we want to admit it, we all judge people based on their appearance, so if you go out in unwashed or just plain unattractive clothing, people are far less likely to want to chat to you or dance with you. By putting a little effort into your appearance before you head out, not only can you greatly improve your chances of striking up conversation with strangers, you will also feel more confident and enjoy your night more.
Cleanliness and Cologne
Firstly, people won’t enjoy being around you if you have bad body odour and greasy hair, so you should always wash yourself and use deodorant and cologne before going out. Likewise, you don’t want to look homeless, so make sure to keep your facial hair in check by shaving or trimming it and use product in your hair to style it. If you’re going to clubs and bars where there’ll be music playing, you’ll probably end up quite close to people you’re talking to, so make sure you brush your teeth to avoid repelling people with your bad breath.
Weather and Location
Before you go out, you should check the weather as it will determine your wardrobe choices for the evening. If it will be cold or raining, you might want to wear a jacket, gloves, a scarf and even a hat to avoid freezing or getting drenched on your way to the bar or club. Most places have cloakrooms where you can leave your outerwear for safekeeping while you enjoy your night out. Similarly, you should take your location into consideration as appropriate clothing for a night out differs from city to city and from country to country.
Your Wardrobe Choices
When it comes to shoes, avoid wearing trainers or runners, opting instead for smarter shoes such as loafers. Depending on your location, you may also want to avoid wearing t-shirts as they are considered too casual for clubs in many cities and countries. A classy shirt is a much safer bet. If in doubt, wear a shirt; you’ll never be refused entry because of a nice shirt whereas you might if you’re wearing a t-shirt. Jeans are often acceptable for going out, but darker jeans that are a good fit make you look smarter and are more appropriate going out wear.
By sparing a thought for your appearance before going out, you’re much more likely to have a good night as your friends will enjoy being around you more, strangers are far more likely to want to talk or dance with you and, most importantly, you’ll feel good in your own skin and this confidence will make you worry less and enjoy your night more.
